The National Director of the Civil Service, Alejandro Weber, and the Dean of the School of Government, Ignacio Briones, sealed an agreement between the two institutions that will allow the implementation of an innovative curriculum designed by the public innovation laboratory, GobLab UAI, in conjunction with the Center for Data Science and Public Policy of the University of Chicago.

The Civil Service support is added to the one already granted by the Government Laboratory through its Public Innovation Fund of the Public Innovators Network.

Through an alliance between the three institutions, eighty public managers will be trained in Santiago and Valparaíso, on how to formulate strategic projects that use data science to solve public problems.

“Managers must apply for the course with an idea of problems they would like to solve and during the course, they will evaluate its feasibility and refine it to make it a proposal for a data project,” says María Paz Hermosilla, director of the GobLab UAI.

The applications for the course, which will be offered at no cost to first, second, and third-level headquarters (or counterparts) of any state power, are open until April 17. Those interested do not need to know about data analysis in order to participate.
