We are the public innovation lab of the School of Government

GobLab UAI is the public innovation lab of the School of Government of Adolfo Ibáñez University. It focuses on the use of data science to improve public policy and management. It seeks to contribute to the community through three main lines: research, education and applied projects.

Its mission is to improve people’s quality of life through the transformation of the public sector with innovation and data science.

Director

María Paz Hermosilla

Master in Public Administration, NYU. Director of the GobLab UAI, Academic Director of the Big Data for Public Policy Certificate Program.

María Paz Hermosilla is the founder and director of GobLab UAI, the innovation lab of the School of Government of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile. GobLab UAI focuses on the use of data science to improve public policy and management. She has a Master of Public Administration from New York University. She is the Academic director of a certificate program in Big Data and Public Policy and professor and researcher of Data Ethics. She was appointed by the Chilean Ministry of Science in the expert advisory committee to create the national strategy for Artificial Intelligence. María Paz is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Quality, Transparency and Impact of Public Spending, created by the Ministry of Finance. She is a consulting fellow for The Governance Lab at NYU. A former public servant, she led the redesign of citizen information services and open data efforts at the Ministry of Public Works.
Research Director

Luis Herskovic

Assistant Professor of the School of Government at University Adolfo Ibáñez and Research Director of GobLab UAI.

Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and Master in Economics from the Catholic University of Chile. He has been a researcher in the area of urban economics at the Furman Center of NYU and a researcher at the Social Observatory of the Alberto Hurtado University (OSUAH). He is currently a Research Associate of COES. His research focuses on the application of data science tools to public problems, focusing on the areas of access to education in urban areas and the analysis of factors that affect traffic accidents.

In 2019, she was a finalist in the Leading Lawyers Ranking in the Data Protection category and an outstanding woman in Cybersecurity by the Chilean Cybersecurity Alliance.
