As part of the annual meeting of the InnoLabs Network in Rosario, Argentina, the director of the GobLab UAI, María Paz Hermosilla, gave the workshop “Data Science for Public Policies”, where she presented a methodology developed by the laboratory in conjunction with The University of Chicago that allows you to explore what public problems can be solved with data analysis. The workshop gathered around 35 participants from public institutions in Santa Fe, civil society and academia. Through practical exercises, participants formulated data science projects and analyzed their feasibility.
The InnoLabs Network was created in 2018 by NovaGob Lab from Spain and was funded by the Ibero-American Science and Technology for Development (CYTED) program. This network is composed of several innovation laboratories such as the PoliLab of the National University of Rosario (host of this annual meeting), the National Laboratory of Public Policies of Mexico, the LabHacker of Brazil, the LabCapital of Colombia and the LabX of Portugal. The Portuguese entity recently joined the network and took the opportunity to present the work they have been developing with the Portuguese government to modernize its administration. In the meeting, the current collaboration projects were evaluated and an InnoLabs work plan was designed for the year 2020.
